Chofetz Chaim Daily 27-8 Nissan

Chofetz Chaim Daily 27 Nissan 1:10 Asur, even without details, to hint towards an old fight. 1:11 Asur to write rechilus. Asur to tell a store owner that ploni badmouthed his merchandise.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 28 Nissan 2:1 Asur to say rechilus to an individual, and worse in public. 2:2 AVAK rechilus is also asur. When talking about ploni to either an overly sensitive person or someone who doesn’t like him, one must not say anything that they’ll misunderstand as an offensive comment.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 13-14 Kislev

Chofetz Chaim Daily 13 Kislev 9:5 Mitzvah to restrain even your young children from LH so they’ll get into the habit. 9:6 Asur to repeat private matters heard from a friend.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 14 Kislev 10:1 Mutar to spread the injustice that ploni caused your friend IF it will help to right a wrong, or defame wrongdoers. 10:2 However you must fulfill 7 conditions: 1. absolutely factual 2. certain who the real villain is 3. rebuke perpetrator first 4. must not inflate crime 5. L’toeles & no personal benefit 6. first try other non LH solution 7. outcome must not be worse than Beis Din would mete out.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 25 Teves

Chofetz Chaim Daily 25 Teves In a case of potential partnership, one should not assume that ploni’s poor financial situation makes him a bad candidate for a partnership. BUT in such a  scenario, where you may not want him as your partner, you shouldn’t recommend him either. That may be bad advice.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 12-13 Elul

Chofetz Chaim Daily 12 Elul 7:2 Asur to say rechilus about an am haaretz. About a Talmid Chacham is much worse a)its probably false b)it violates the mitzvah to honor and respect him c)worse ramifications (i.e. can ruin his influence, create a big fight, he will lose his position).

Chofetz Chaim Daily 13 Elul 7:3 Asur to tell someone that ploni badmouthed him. Likewise asur to tell that to someone’s wife & relatives – they’ll get upset at ploni. 7:4 Much worse to say rechilus to a non-Jew about a Jew, because he may harm the Jew. Asur to denigrate a product or service that a Jew provided for a non-Jew.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 23 Teves

Chofetz Chaim Daily 23 Teves 9:13 If the buyer will cause the seller any unrightful loss, it is asur to tell him that he was overcharged. The Chofetz Chaim bemoans the common practice of people degrading other’s purchases. If the buyer has no claim min hadin, there is no toeles. Most often the sayer isn’t educated enough to be able to determine the correct current value of the item!

Chofetz Chaim Daily 23-25 Kislev

Chofetz Chaim Daily 23 Kislev Rechilus 1:1 One who says rechilus transgresses: Lo selech rachil b’amecha, and many other positive & negative commandments. 1:2 Rechilus is: Telling someone that ploni wronged or said bad about him. Asur even if ploni won’t deny it. 1:3 Rechilus is asur even if you’re not intending to create hard feelings. Asur even if you think ploni was right.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 24 Kislev 1:4 Rechilus is asur even if it’s 100% true. Asur even if they already hated each other. It is a terrible sin if you create the hard feelings. 1:5 Asur even if you’re pressured to tell the info, or even if it’s your parent or Rabbi asking.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 25 Kislev 1:6 Asur to say rechilus even if not saying will cause a large financial loss, like losing one’s job. 1:7 Likewise asur even if it will cause insult and embarrassment. The great reward for guarding one’s speech is beyond human comprehension!

Chofetz Chaim Daily 24-26 Cheshvan

Chofetz Chaim Daily 24 Cheshvan 6:7 The sin of LH is commonly caused by not judging favorably. 6:8 It is much worse if the subject is a Talmid Chacham, whom one must try harder to judge favorably.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 25 Cheshvan 6:9 Anything that is asur for someone to SAY, is also LH to BELIEVE. 6:10 One is allowed to SUSPECT that a story is true, IF there is toeles e.g. to protect himself etc. However one must still treat this suspect as a regular Jew for all matters.

Chofetz Chaim Daily 26 Cheshvan 6:11 Heter to suspect is only to protect yourself. It is absolutely forbidden to mistreat, release oneself from obligations to, or hate that person. 6:12 Tshuva from believing LH includes removing the story and any ill will from your heart.
